17 Aug 2025pecialized Training Workshop: Vascular Catheter Placement in Children
On the sidelines of the Annual Pediatrics Congress – October 2025
Date: Friday, October 10
Time: 10:00–11:00
Venue: Iran International Conference Center
As part of the Annual Pediatrics Congress (October 8–11 / 17–20 Mehr 1404), a specialized workshop focused on vascular catheter placement in infants and children will be held from October 8 to 10. Organized in collaboration with Vygon and its official representative in Iran, this workshop includes both theoretical and practical sessions, emphasizing the use of PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) and Leaderflex catheters in neonates and children.
Main Workshop Topics:
Overview of principles for selecting vascular access routes in neonates and children
Introduction to advanced catheters: PICC and Leaderflex
Theoretical and practical training on catheter placement using mannequins and clinical scenarios
Prevention of complications and post-placement care
This workshop is an excellent opportunity for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in neonatal and critical care to update their knowledge and gain hands-on experience with modern tools and techniques.
Importance of Vascular Access in Pediatrics
Securing reliable vascular access in children, especially premature infants and critically ill patients, is a major challenge in clinical care. Proper peripheral or central venous access is essential for administering life-saving medications and fluids and can significantly reduce complications while improving treatment quality.
PICC catheters are recognized as a safe, standard solution for long-term vascular access in neonates and children. They allow for prolonged IV therapy, parenteral nutrition, and frequent blood sampling without repeated cannulation. Leaderflex catheters, on the other hand, are widely used as a reliable option for peripheral venous access in critical conditions or patients with difficult veins.
Target Audience
Neonatologists and pediatric specialists
Pediatric residents
NICU and PICU nurses
Critical care teams
Midwives
Participation in this workshop can significantly enhance practical skills, reduce human error, and improve the quality of vascular care in pediatric patients.
One-Paragraph Summary
A specialized workshop on vascular catheter placement in neonates and children will be held during the Annual Pediatrics Congress (October 8–11, 2025) at the Iran International Conference Center. Conducted in collaboration with Vygon, it covers both theory and hands-on practice, focusing on PICC and Leaderflex catheters. The agenda includes vascular access principles, advanced catheter technologies, practical simulation with mannequins, and complication prevention. Designed for pediatricians, residents, NICU/PICU nurses, and critical care teams, this workshop aims to improve skills, minimize errors, and optimize pediatric vascular care.
